Cannabis sativa (Hemp) is a fiber. Hemp is a variety of cannabis grown for the fiber and seeds. Hemp It is most commonly used for drug marijuana. Marijuana is a drug obtained from the flowering tops, stems, and leaves of the Hemp plant. Hemp was originally located in Asia. Hemp has many uses, rope, twine, construction materials, carpeting, clothing, paper, textiles, biodegradable plastics, construction, health food, fuel cosmetics, and soap. The fiber and seed are extremely valuable and are often called a cash crop because of it value; Hemp may be the most useful plant known to man. Hemp grows quickly in very diverse soil conditions. Hemp was widely grown in the United States from the Colonial Period until the mid-1800s. Kentucky established itself as the leading hemp producer in the U.S. After the Civil War, hemp production declined in Kentucky, as well as in other areas of the country. U.S. production ended in 1958
Reasons why Hemp became illegal because it was associated primarily with Mexican American immigrant workers and African American jazz musician community and the two were often associated with evil and crime. Industrial hemp’s relationship to marijuana was also one of the reasons hemp became illegal. Violent crimes committed by immigrants reportedly intoxicated from marijuana became popularized (some people called it the devils weed), Hemp is also illegal because of its relation to marijuana. the main reason hemp became illegal was because of the concern of misuse.
